Founder and Creative Director
“I was raised by artists and designers, and everyone, including me, knew from a very early age that art would be my life’s path.
Though I was originally trained in fine art, I opened my first design studio in my late teens in 1977. I am a relentless creative machine and have been satisfying communications and marketing objectives for regional, national and global companies ever since. I have been recognized repeatedly for the caliber of my creative work. I’ve never stopped painting and sculpting and continue to indulge in many other personal creative projects.
In my approach to both brand and design, I believe in the beautiful union of logic and grace. My left and right lobes play very well together and as an artist and a business-person, I possesses an affinity for discerning obscure patterns, and creating aesthetic and conceptual order out of chaotic and disassociated elements.
I enjoy work much more than you would think a person ought to. I continue to make art, am a licensed pilot, a barely passable lead guitarist, a former extreme skier, and, um, a bonafide circus impresario. My wife Smita and I operate Low Gravity, a Hawaii non-profit, who’s mission is to inspire wellness and promote joy through engagement, participation and fun. Our ‘Oli ‘Oli Club helps fortify and broaden minds and hearts of local keiki through character building, creative expression and community service. Our ridiculous life-sized, live action cartoon circus, Circus Lolo, harnesses the power of laugher to spread joy to our community.
